Finding that perfect bed for your child can be time consuming and frustrating. There are many styles to consider, a few different sizes, and some work better in small spaces than others. Luckily, if you are browsing furniture stores in the Chicagoland area you will soon find exactly what your child needs while staying within your budget. Here is some helpful information for selecting a bed that is just right.

Bunk Beds are great for siblings

Bunk beds are simply two twin-size beds stacked atop one another. They are very sturdy and safe for children over 6 years of age, they can be made of wood or metal and feature a ladder to get up to the top bed with safety railings to prevent any night time falls. This is the most popular choice for rooms where space is an issue as both beds take up the same space as one would. Bunk beds can come in a wide variety of wood stains or metal colors fitting for both boys and girls and any existing room decor.

Trundle Beds are perfect for sleep overs

Also called Truckle beds, the Trundle is a popular choice in both the USA and Europe. They have been around for at least 200 years, and are still rising in popularity. Trundle beds are two twin size beds with one being stored directly under the other. The bottom bed is on casters and can be rolled out as needed. This makes them a benefit for children who enjoy having sleep overs as they can be rolled out for the night, and rolled away so there is plenty of room to play during the day. Trundle beds are much lower to the floor than bunk beds, which make them perfect for children who may be afraid of heights.

Loft Beds provide storage and function in one

Somewhat similar to bunk beds, the Loft bed is normally just for one person. Storage space, a small dresser, or a small desk can be included under the bed. A small ladder or short stairway provides access to the bed and safety rails prevent any falls while sleeping. Loft beds can also be combined with a trundle bed, having the second bed roll out from under the first and storage space will still be present under the stairs. This makes them extremely useful for smaller rooms where a separate desk or dresser cannot fit.
