New technology offered with new equipment can be very helpful in monitoring and diagnostic treatment, but it can also be very costly. In order to upgrade older versions of cardiac ultrasound systems to the advanced options offered with the GE Vivid T8, many hospitals and facilities are turning to refurbished equipment.

The big advantage to a refurbished cardiac ultrasound system is that it is a fraction of the price of a new unit, but it is not an outdated technology. This provides the opportunity for even small hospitals and clinics to have the quality equipment that larger hospitals have on hand.

Of course, it is important to choose a company for refurbished equipment that uses only qualified technicians and replaces equipment to the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) standards. These companies typically specialize in refurbished equipment sales and rentals, but they may also provide medical supplies, parts and accessories.

The Vivid T8 Advantage

The GE Vivid T8 is a highly portable, compact and easy to move cardiac ultrasound system. It is fully contained and offers a console-based system with a full control panel and monitor on the unit.

Everything on the system is designed for the operator and patient ease of use. The leads are stored on the console system and the equipment can be positioned to allow easy access for the technician to both the controls as well as the patient.

The control panel includes a wealth of standard function keys that make changing reports quick, easy and intuitive with very limited practice or training on the system. In addition to the keyboard and function keys, there is also a touch screen mounted between the desktop control area and the monitor. It offers a full 19-inch monitor that can be positioned for operator comfort and even the option for a configurable to footswitch with three pedals.

Additionally, the system can be used for both adult and pediatric patients for cardiac ultrasound. With various probes, it can also be used for abdominal, obstetrics and gynecology, fetal heart and body, musculoskeletal as well as small organ imaging.

There are multiple operating modes that can be switched using the pre-set keys, the touch screen controls or customized settings. These include 2d tissue, continuous wave Doppler, pulsed wave Doppler, strain imaging, M-mode as well as compound imaging. There are additional systems and peripheral options that add to the different testing and use options for the GE Vivid T8.
