There’s a lot that can go wrong with a sink, from a faucet drip to grimy tile, and if you called a professional every time something went slightly wrong, you’d be broke in no time. If you’re considering sink repair in San Gabriel area, consider a few factors before calling. Is this something you could fix yourself? Is it worth repairing, or is it time to just get a new sink? Considering these questions each time you have to repair your sink can save you a lot of money in the long run.

DIY

Most aesthetic issues with a sink you can fix yourself. If your sink bowl has a chip in it, cleaning and epoxy can reattach the chip without a noticeable difference. Be sure to clean your sink with appropriate products that will not damage it. In addition, some simple faucet drips or clogs you can fix yourself, assuming it is not a recurring problem. If your drain is continually clogging, then you likely need a plumber, but if has been a long time, it may just be time to clean out the hair.

Repair

There are some issues that you should definitely call a plumber for. As mentioned above, recurring clogs or clogs that are not fixed by your efforts will likely require a plumber’s attention. Other issues that require the attention of a professional include water pressure difficulty (erratic, low, or overly high), hard to reach leaks, and sewage issues. All of these must be handled with care, and must be dealt with whether you are replacing your sink or not.

Replace

There are certain issues that do require you to replace your sink. If your basin has a crack (not a chip) in it, this can be very difficult to repair, and will likely not be durable if you do manage to replace it. In the long run, it is probably a better choice to just replace your sink. The main other reason to replace your sink plumbing is worn out pipes, or out of date pipes (namely lead).

If you’re considering sink repair in San Gabriel, consider your different options. If it’s a small issue it may be best to do it yourself, but if it’s larger you should consider the merits of replacement versus repair.
