In 2016, Jaguar released the limited edition of the Jaguar F-Type in Philadelphia. Project 7 was a proud successor of the racing D-Types of the 1950s and preceded the Jaguar XK-E. Altogether this limited edition of an F-type was one that is sought after by collectors of rare and beautiful fast cars and fans of Jaguar vehicles.

The Very Special Project 7

What makes this Jaguar F-Type so special? This is a sports car. Small with a short wheelbase and a large, powerful 5.0-litre supercharged, direct fuel injection intercooled DOHC 32-valve V-8 engine, it can go from zero to 60 in 3.4 sec. Its top speed is 186 mph.

The block and heads are aluminum, as is the entire exterior. With carbon-ceramic brakes, this car can stop as quickly as it speeds up the fairway. A rear stabilizing fin ensures balance and provides great aerodynamics.

Yet, although the F-Type is impressively fast, it is also considered an enjoyable car. With no trunk or roof, it is truly a car built for one. Easy to maneuver and driver-centric, it was popular with those who could afford to purchase the limited production.

A Truly Limited Edition

In 2016, only 250 of these cars were produced. Of these, only 50 were designated for the United States. All had been preordered and spoken for. Today, whether you live in Philadelphia, Portland or even San Francisco, you can count yourself lucky if you catch a glimpse of one at an exotic car show let alone driving the streets.
