The State of Illinois stretches some 400 miles from north to south and is more or less in the center of continental America; this gives a wide range of climatic conditions from hot and humid summer weather to extremely cold winters. The recorded highs and lows for temperature are from 117 °F down to −37 °F and, in winter, this can be accompanied by some 38 inches of snow. The State also suffers from tornadoes and it is not for nothing that its capital is well named as “The Windy City”.

Not A Place To Live Or Work In The Open Air

Compared to our distant ancestors; today, we live in a pampered society where – if we have to be out of doors – we have clothing that offers better protection from whatever the climate throws at us. When we are indoors; we expect to be in a climate controlled environment that is neither too cool nor too hot – regardless of the time of the year. Furthermore, we expect this climate control in our homes, at our workplaces and just about every enclosed space we are ever likely to visit.

Who Should We Thank For Our Indoor Comfort Levels?

Servants waving large fans in our faces during summer and lighting blazing, smoky, open fires in winter were all well and good in their day; but, these are hardly efficient and definitely not really controlled for maximum comfort. Mankind practices the principle of “necessity is the mother of invention” and this is certainly the case when it comes to increasing our personal comforts.

The Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning Engineers

Drawing on numerous past inventions; the equipment and energy sources that run today’s indoor climate control systems were put together in a way that made the results universally available. Furnaces, chillers, fans, etc are all part of these systems that we take so much for granted these days. However, it is probably true to say that; if it were not for HVAC; Chicago would not be the large, thriving metropolis that it is today. Discounting visitors, it is estimated that here are some 13 million people currently in Illinois and over 2.7 million of them reside in Chicago – that’s a lot of people to keep cool or warm up as the season demands.

For any building usage (residential, commercial, industrial, recreational, etc) the services of experts providing HVAC in Chicago are essential. Heatmasters Heating & Cooling have been providing such services for the last 65 years.
