Allowing people to enter your home is a very personal decision. Choosing that people your trust to handle your most prized possessions is something else entirely. After all, you wouldn’t let just anyone walk around with your grandma’s china would you? This is why it is so important to think long and hard when selecting movers. Boca Raton, Florida is home to many moving companies, but you can’t automatically assume that all of them are worthy of handling your personal belongings. Even so, a giant move is simply too much for one person to handle on his or her own. Read on for some tips on how to find the best professionals for your relocation.

Get Off the Web
Virtually anyone can pose as “relocation expert” online, and job posting sites like Craig’s List may not be the best avenues in which to meet real, licensed movers. No matter how convenient it may seem to plug simply in some details online, take the time to pick up an actual phone book and call some companies from it. Companies listed in your phone book are likely to be located in your area and business for ten or more years.

Ask Around
Sometimes the best way to hear about great movers is through word of mouth. Has anyone moved into your neighborhood recently? Ask them what company they used and whether or not they’d recommend it. If you’re moving to work, your company may be able to suggest a company they trust for the job. You can also check businesses’ Yelp pages for reviews and with the Better Business Bureau for any official complaints.

Get in Some Face Time
No matter how great a company sounds online or on the phone, nothing trumps meeting them in person. Set up home appointments with a couple different companies so you can get a feel for how they operate. If a company refuses to come to your home, cross them off the list. You should never be given an estimate without a home walkthrough. Remember, a great company will provide you with adequate paperwork and explain all the details of your contract before you sign.
